Fallujah Good
I went to see “Falluja Good” tonight (October 28, 2008). The actor was Benjamin Mathes. The play is based mostly on emails from his older brother while stationed in Iraq. It takes place before the invasion on Fallujah and then ends after the invasion.
I felt it gave a good idea of a soldiers perspective – one that is not penned by some high-payed person in New York looking to make a headline.
He spoke of the fact that CNN was passing on high security information putting the s
oldiers at risk and more concerned about reporting how many soldiers died or what they have done ‚Äúwrong‚Äù rather than reporting on the progress that they (the soldiers) feel they are making ‚Äì the difference they feel they are making. It’s a radical difference in thinking and point of view.
I felt Mr. Mathes did an awesome job portraying the ups and downs of a soldier’s life in Iraq.
For My Brother
My older brother is in Iraq right now serving our country. I’m really proud of him. In many ways I look up to him, he’s only two years older than I, but he has accomplished a lot in life. These two songs have been playing a lot in theaters. I really respect those that join during war-time or that stay in and don’t try to get out or retire early. Thank you to all those who serve their country unselfishly.
