Oh my god, it’s nude!
Yep, that’s that reaction you hear from some Americans when they see the first of hundreds of nude statues or pictures at the Lueve. Then you hear, “honey, you walk in front and tell me if there is a nude one coming up.” At this point I laugh and think to myself, you might as well 1, leave and not look at art or some of the buildings, or 2, have he just cover your face and lead you around.
The fact is, people in Europe are no such sex-phobics. For thousands of years, they have had statues and pictures including religious pictures that contained nudity or “clothed nudity.” Clothed nudity, meaning they slightly cover the area. We have such a phobia of the human body, the opposite sex in America that it makes it a problem. Then we have those who flip out at any skin showing, or a lady in a bikini in public.
Here are some of the pictures from the Lueve:
Some justice does exist, or is it just coincidence
Micheal Jackson died today at 50. Sadly he lived that long. It sickens me to see the press on him. Will they rejoice over OJ’s life the same way when he finally dies? My god, what has happened to this country that we celebrate the life of a child molester!?
Yes, I know, he won his case. So, he’s innocent - right? Because we all know, what the court does always is right, and justice is right always - right? WRONG. He won because he had a really good team of lawyers and one of the word’s worse district attorneys. Twice this DA had the chance to prosecute this child molester, and twice the child molester one not on fact or innocence, but because he DA made mistakes.
Michael Jackson should have died in prison.
Maybe he finally got justice - or maybe it was coincidence. I’m just glad he can’t molest any more little boys.
Then the “Rev.” Jessie Jackson gives his bullshit speech and says that he is more than an icon. Makes me want to puke.
Should have so many died?
While in France at the beginning of this month, I toured a number of landmarks from WWII. I also toured one of our graveyards where thousands of my countrymen are buried. It always makes me emotional when I see these, and think of the service our our brave men and women in the military.
I looked on Wikipedia, and according to the page on WWI, Axis dead: approximately 11 million; Allied dead: about 61 million.
61 million people died on the allied side. Almost six times as many as on the German side.
This brings me to what I’ve been thinking about. What would have happened if instead of caving to political pressure, the Allied countries had taken a stand when Germany first broke the treaty and began acting up. Could have the casualties been kept to a few hundred thousand instead?
I think it’s possible that had we and other countries entered the war at an early stage before Germany became too strong, the war would have been much different and many lives would have been saved.
I know it’s not a popular idea, but I think it’s better to take care of a dangerous power before it gets bad.
Just a reminder, it was not just Bush’s idea. Looking at old news articles, almost every news outlet was on board with the war, UNTIL the U.N. apposed it.
Sedom was evil, there’s not doubt about that and I think most everyone agrees with that.
We HAVE found WMDs. A WMD is not large in size, it’s the effect it has. In fact we have found many. As far as others - there is no proof that he did not have more weapons, and there is no proof that he did not bury them or send them to his friends.
Then we have the fact that he continued to threaten us, continued to say he had weapons, and continued to support our enemies.
What would have happened if we had not invaded Iraq. What would be the situation now?
With us invading Afghanistan, if Iraq was not a problem at the time, it would have become an issue by now. If we had not invaded before, we would have had to eventually.
Was it better to invade when he was not prepared and when his friends were not ready to help him?
Sure, we could have waited until he prepared and then attacked us. But then we would have been fighting a much bigger war. We would have ended up with losses like we had in WWI and II and the Korean War.
Now, I do agree that the war was handled wrong. There is no doubt there.
Religion, Faith
In posts, I have been critical of religion. While I detest religion, I do respect those who have faith and believe in something. While I may disagree with them, if they are kind, compassionate and loving, I have no issue with that.
What I do take issue with is religion. Beliefs that cause someone to hate and hurt those who disagree with them. Those who use “church” or a “belief system” to control and keep others in bondage.
While in Europe, I have looked at some of the catholic cathedrals. While they are beautiful, I can’t help but think of the many years of the dark ages that they murdered those who disagreed with them.
There are those today that are so passionate about their religion, that if it where legal would kill those who disagree.
I truly detest self-righteous and religious people. Yes, as some would point out, I have been hurt by them. Every person who has wronged me in life is religious.
However, I have to admit that some of the kindest and humblest people I know have a faith. I guess that’s why I make a difference in my mind. Because a true faith in someone higher than us should make us better, not worse (as religion does).
Kiva, Help Someone….
I while back I came across http://www.kiva.org. I Looked at it and bookmarked it. A while later I came across it again, and decided it looked like a worthy place to get involved with. I loaned to a man who has a family in Mexico to help him with his store.
It’s a cool place, because you can loan as little or as much to help someone start or grow their business. It doesn’t just help them now, it helps them in the long-run to provide for themselves and family.
I just got an update on the man I loaned to and he has started repaying the people who loaned him money.
Check it out if you get a chance.
Though I agree with the ruling of the court…
Though I agree to an extent with the ruling of the court. I disagree with the reasoning presented here:
http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2009/05/16/mn.chemo.decision.kare
The court had every right and has the responsibility to order medical care for this child. No parent has the right to kill their child because of “religious” beliefs. That’s not faith, that’s extremism.
I guess this is a touchy subject for me because I have seen so many (yes many) children die because the parent’s religious beliefs (or what they called faith) did not allow for their children to even have natural, let alone allopathic health care.
I guess the other reason it strikes a nerve with me is because I had to fight my ex, the state and county in court to get my son to have his proper medical care. In the end, I was able to get my son most of the medical care he needed.
I strongly believe in parents rights, but I disagree with most “parental rights” people. I agree it can be a gray line at times, however, children are citizens and have and should have rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Children are not put in families to serve the parents, fulfil their dreams, or happiness. Children are given parents to help them fulfil their dreams and happiness and to raise them until they can pursue those. That should bring good parents happiness.
I disagree with what that wacko said in that clip, saying that the children are the State’s and the parents are stewards. HELL NO!
The only place the State has in matter concerning children and parents is if the children’s life is in danger, or their in abuse.
In this case the parents are putting their own stupidity and bull-crap in-front of their child’s well-being. Sure he says he wants to not have the treatment. His parents have convinced him it’s a sin and he’ll burn in hell!
People like this family really should not be allowed to have children in the first place. (Of course I am not proposing the state deciding who can have children, as such a thing is not possible, no could the state be kept from violating more people’s rights than it protects. I’m just angry at the fact that these “people” have more love for their made-up religion than their own son.).
They are worthless trash. Hell is for people like this. Jesus called them “white washed tombs with dead man’s bones.” In my opinion the idea of hell is not good enough for such - it’s too merciful. (I’m sure they would be glad I don’t decide that).
A true hero
I just came across this article. I’m surprised that it was so positive about this hero.

Another blow tyrants

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court said that police do NOT have the right to search your car if they are arresting you. This is good news. Police in this country have become more and more like the KGB of the USSR.
What has happened to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
What has happened in our country? Is there really any hope?
We have congressmen and senators passing legislation making laws that violates the document that gives them the authority to legislate.
We have judges making decisions on what they think, rather than justice and the law. We have right-wing judges removing peoples freedoms and left-wing judges violating other people’s freedom.
We have judges refusing people the right to trials and imposing impossible, life altering decisions that are grossly unjust, and illegal.
We have judges pushing their own agendas ahead of what is just, right or legal.
We are trying to pass constitutional amendments against those people whom we disagree with.
As our freedoms slowly slip away, we are fighting among ourselves, and trying to remove rights of each other.
If the left does not want the right to legislate and rule where they have not right to, the the right must stop trying to.
The moment we start legislating some-one’s personal freedoms, the when we have our own legislated.
We should not legislate anything that does not harm another person.
For example, if we are to outlaw gays, then who’s next? Does it bother some people, sure - but the fact it they are not hurting anyone else.
And yes, I’ve heard the whole thing that they hurt little boys. The fact is, that is not because they are gay, it’s because they are perverts.
My ex wrote in her journal that she was afraid for her little brother to be around her dad just because he is gay. Well, I think that you can’t judge someone on that.
However, in the case of her step-dad, it’s not a matter of being gay. It’s a matter of being sick in the mind and a pervert. His perversion is not just kids, it’s anyone. From his own children to his his step-daughter, to his grandchildren and his students - or those he meets online. Though the guy is married, and claims to be a “man of God”, he finds every way to be a total pervert.
Because of him, it was really hard for me to understand gays point of view until I was able to set and talk with a gay gentleman one day. I told him about the perversion in the life of my ex’s step-dad and he was infuriated. As he explained, perverts are everywhere.
Then we have children who’s rights are systematically denied and trampled upon. Their lives are destroyed and they are treated as a case number by the courts.
As an example, my little sister left home because her “dad” is much like my ex, religiously, mentally, physically, and sexually abusive. They (my ex and former dad) have the same brain-type and will stop at nothing, even destroying the lives of their own children in the name of God.
The courts sit by and do nothing for my children or my little sister. My son being in the ER four times, sexually assaulted, or my 16 year-old sister crying for help because of mental and physical abuse falls on the deaf ears of courts and “child services.”
I could go on, everywhere I look I see injustice. By the religious right and the fascist left.
It’s been hard for me to come to this place, because truthfully, it’s nice when you agree with the idea being legislated. For example, I’d love to outlaw smoking. I think it’s dirty and gross to do in public. However, that would violate the rights of someone else, and we should not cross that line.
I remember a few years back when I believe it was Howard Philips said that if he were elected president he would push for legislation forcing people to close on Sunday. Everyone thought, oh how wonderful, he wants to return to “christian principles.” No - it’s not! It’s not any-one’s place to enforce such on someone else.
Then in the South, you have dry counties, or no drinking on Sunday, which are clearly based on someone’s religion.
I like the quote, “your freedom to move your arm stops at the other mans nose.”
The only laws we should have are those that directly impact other people. We should not be legislating preferences and beliefs. And judges should not be legislating nor should they be imposing their own ideas and value systems on others.
I feel a great sense of sadness for our country. Much of this is brought on by local politics where close to 10,000 or more people per year are systematically abused and sentenced without legal precedence, backing, justification, or trial.
If we want our freedom, we are going to have to grow up, stop fighting, stop pushing our own agendas and beliefs on everyone else, and realize that to guarantee freedom, we have to give it to all, not just those who we agree with.
We are going to have to realize that both the left and the right wish to take our freedoms and impose thier ideas on us.
Jesus was a communist
Posted by admin in Discrimination, Politics, Religion on March 31st, 2009
Have you ever got the feeling from christians that Jesus was a white, right-wing, republican that promoted a democracy? I’m sure you have seen or believe this if you are in the United States. Oh and he had a short beard and was well groomed.
I have a secret though. He was not white, he was not right-winged, he was not a republican, and he did NOT believe in democracy.
The fact is though, Jesus promoted the idea of communism. The bible promotes a type of communism with anarchy. It promotes the commoners sharing everything, but it also promotes the idea of a King.
Now, I personally think democracy is good, but we by no means have that in America.
